Jackson is a world renowned resort town destination. Just about anything you could want from a vacation you will find in this magical playground nestled in the shadow of the towering, majestic Teton Mountains. Every season is packed with opportunities for both excitement and relaxation in this rustic setting.

The National Elk Refuge, located on the north edge of Jackson, is the natural wintering area for the region’s thousands of elk. When the snow in the mountains becomes deep in winter, the animals migrate down to the valley. The elk remain there until spring when they gradually make their way back to their mountain homes and into the national parks.

The Jackson Hole Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center offers viewing tours onto the elk refuge, which allows visitors a close-up view of elk. A shuttle carries patrons from the visitor’s center up the highway to horse-drawn sleighs that venture into the elk herds.
